Working on BBC Breakfast was an incredible experience. Each day was unique whether it was producing on location, directing presenters, instructing crews, looking after guests in studio, overseeing our interactive content or researching stories. The show is broadcast live which meant I had to be resourceful in my problem solving, always be thinking ahead and be very quick on my toes. All of that at four o’clock in the morning!

“Clayton is a joy to work with. Nothing ever appears to be too much trouble for him. He is fast and efficient in a ‘live’ broadcasting environment, and creative with it!.”
Carol Kirkwood, BBC Breakfast Weather Presenter.
Highlights
In 2009 and 2010 I was given the opportunity to produce the Weather and Sport from Wimbledon. Working with weather presenter Carol Kirkwood and sport’s Chris Hollins, I produced coverage that was seen on average by 4 million people in the UK. I relish being on location and loved the excitement of broadcasting from such a well known sporting event.
In 2010 I was Assistant
Producer at the London premiere of ‘Salt’. Angelina Jolie was interviewed by Charlie Stayt. I managed to get some great photos for our website and had an incredible day taking part in such a huge press event. Some other high profile interviews I have worked on include David Cameron and an exclusive with all four Sex and the City 2 stars.
During the 2010 General Elections, BBC Breakfast produced their programme from College Green outside the Houses of Parliament.
Sian Williams anchored the programme whilst I ran around grabbing well known political speakers. It was a race between the channels with me winning every time due to my tenacity and trainers.
Here’s some photos of my time on the show.
